WEEK 50, Day 1, Monday, 12 December 2022

Observations from today’s readings and today’s S-WOD, Monday, 12 December 2022:

1 Chronicles 7:22 – And Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brothers came to comfort him.

Family should be a source of comfort during times of mourning, stopping what they were doing to give full support.

1 Chronicles 7:23 – And Ephraim went in to his wife, and she conceived and bore a son. And he called his name Beriah, because disaster had befallen his house.

Even in hard times, God wants His people to act on hope, investing in the future and continuing to grow a family.

1 Chronicles 7:24 – His daughter was Sheerah, who built both Lower and Upper Beth-horon, and Uzzen-sheerah.

It is noteworthy that Sheerah is mentioned in the Bible — she was obviously a powerful leader, noted for building towns in strategic locations, one of those named after her. Again, women play prominent roles throughout the Bible.

Revelation 8:13 — Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!

There are only two words repeated three times in the New Testament for emphasis: “Holy, holy, holy”, and “Woe, woe, woe.” Unfortunately, both words are under-emphasized from the pulpits today. God’s wrath will be unimaginably horrible to those who don’t honor His holiness and God. This reality should excite all Christians to spread the Gospel to as many as possible. Christians too should not lose sight of the truth that if you do not honor God as Holy, you will experience woe. Grace is not given that a person can safely dishonor God. Grace is given that we can glorify God as Holy.

“Cross” Fit S-WOD (Spiritual Workout of the Day) – 12 December 2022: Honor God as Holy today by being holy — (1 Peter 1:15, 16). (Rev 8:13)
