WEEK 0, Day 1, Monday, 27 December 2021 — Preparation Week

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.” (Psalm 19:7-11, NIV)

Since we have completed our Bible readings for this year, successfully reading through the entire Bible, we will spend this week preparing to begin reading the Bible again in 2022. To do that, we will go through David Platt’s teaching series – “How to Study the Bible,” presented in 2007.

First, some administrative notes:
– The Defenders Bible Reading Plan has been updated to accomplish the following goals –

— Read the entire New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs every year
— Read the entire Old Testament every two years
— Read daily in both the Old and New Testaments
— Read a book of the Gospels each quarter year
— Read from Proverbs on Saturdays and Sundays, reading the chapter corresponding to the day of the month. For example, read Proverbs 7 on 7 January and Proverbs 14 on 14 January
–Read the Psalms each weekend
