Observations from today’s readings and today’s S-WOD, Sunday, 21 January 2024:
Psalm 3:8 – “Salvation belongs to the Lord.”
People place their hope in many different things.
Some place their hope in politicians, others in finances, others in friends and family; but hope, peace, and security are ultimately found only in Jesus. Build your house on the rock of Jesus. Everything else is shifting sand.
“Cross” Fit S-WOD (Spiritual Workout of the Day) – 21 January 2024: Today, consider in what you really place your hope. Is it really Christ and Christ alone? Pray that God will reveal to you where you might have idols of false hope in your life which cause in you divided loyalties and infidelity before God. Pay attention to what has enough power over you to cause you to do what you know you shouldn’t. Pray that God will expose those things and give you the strength to remove them from your life if they are inherently harmful or subordinate them if they are good things you have simply made too important or too controlling in your life.
